Log - Day 2
Tue 14th of April 2026
I created the transform map using the email field as a coalescence field I ran the initial transform and it seems to have worked so I'm just waiting for the user to get back to me if the first thousand records are working fine I will do the other 14,000 records and see if that updates as well.
So the user came back to me confirmed everything was all good so then I took the spreadsheet and split it into 17 separate sheets with 1000 records on it then I uploaded that those sheets individually into service now using the transformer app that I created use the email address as a adolescence and added an on before script transformation script to ignore ignore any inserts which was needed which was good.
As it was all updated in test instance the user confirm that was all good so I went ahead and started doing it in prod but then the user came back and said that she wanted the blank fields in the Google sheet to translate to Blackfields on the user record so I had to go into the transform map and check a box called copy empty fields and then just repro the import sets that I’ve already done and then just carry on with the other sheets as normal the other uploads as normal and took me. I don’t know how long it took about quarter of an hour 20 minutes or so to do it about 50 out of 15,000 records, we’re all updated successfully so that helped my confidence.
Still having problems with LDAP OU definition is there a bind error than getting which I suspect is down to the distinguished name password that has been set I don’t have access to that password so the account needs to be used that connects the LTapo U definition the L server to the physical server active directory server so I suspect the something wrong with that account with that password because I don’t have access to that one and I’ve checked everything else from what I can check within service now so I’ve restarted the mid server I’ve re-tried to connection I’ve tried all the RDNs tried with a bankcard tried all the filters with that and it’s still coming up in the same error message. The weird thing is the server connection test is successful. It’s just the OU definition test connection that’s having the bind fail which is from what I’ve googled. it says it’s something wrong with the distinguished name account that’s been used so I’ve got a meeting with the user tomorrow hopefully tomorrow to kind of go through and compare notes. It might be something that I’ve missed because it’s the same server that’s been used but it’s a different service on the same server, so I don’t know if there’s gonna be a conflict there that’s causing the bind condition at the bind error so I’ve deactivated the held up server in pro which should just leave a clear connection for the L server in test so will check that one tomorrow and I’ve got a meeting with the user as well.
I picked up an incident today for an issue with a catalogue item approval the approvals weren’t going through so I checked on the catalogue item and saw that there was a typo in the condition on the approvals. It’s about eight different conditions for a specific approval so I went through those corrected them and tested them and I’ve got that bit working while I was doing the testing I found out there was an error with the RITM where the application field isn’t populating from the user selection the issue I’m gonna have to have a look for because it populates when the user is logging the ticket it’s just a way that the field is populated which is based on the groups that they user is a member of displays the selections so depending on what group uses and will depend on what options are shown in the application screen the application drop-down so once you use the select an application and the second option beneath that the user of that log the ticket and the approval fighters but the application option isn’t populating in the RITM so I need to investigate that tomorrow to find out why it’s not working. At the moment I don’t know why it’s not populating there’s a client script that controls what is visible based on the user group membership there’s options within the select box options drop-down related list but that’s somehow isn’t connected. There are tick boxes on the select box on the client script makes it available for catalogue RITM and task view. These are all ticked.
I didn’t get a chance to speak to my colleague about the Google project permissions on my account. I was try and catch up with him either tomorrow or Thursday. If my permissions don’t get elevated within the project, I’m not sure what I’m gonna be able to do, I might have to just assign the story to a colleague that has the access but I don’t see why I wouldn’t get the permissions cause I’m already in the project anyway I just need to re-create their client ID client secret. I just follow the instructions follow the guide and then just get it all reconnected again. It seems straightforward but there’s something that we’re missing on that one once it’s connected, we can then test the Google chat into service now another one of my colleagues is confident. It’s going to be any good because we’ve already got a solution in place which has been working well for a couple of years.
I had cheap and cheerful hotdogs for dinner. It’s been awhile since I’ve had something processed to that kind of degree but then I did have Ben & Jerry’s fish food probably 2/3 of a tubs left. I finished off this evening feeling a little bit groggy for that but then I had some water to wash it down with dunno if that helped me I’m probably should’ve washed up too.
Transcribing notes isn’t 100% I’m gonna have to read through it all and have a check to see what makes sense or what doesn’t, whether it’s my grammar or speaking or punctuation is a bit off as well. When it’s transcribing should it add a comma when I pause? I wonder if the iPhone has transcribe Settings.
